We're here!

Our flights all went smoothly and we arrived right on time in St. Petersburg. To our surprise, a driver with our agency was at the airport to pick us up & take us to the hotel. Once we arrived, we walked down to the Astoria to exchange some money and then bought some water & a snack at a little market. We're settled in the hotel now and ready for tomorrow. We found out that we will be going to the orphanage tomorrow. We leave at 9:30 AM to pick Anya up and take her to have her picture made for her new passport. We then take her back to the orphanage and come back into the city to pick up our interpreter. We will go to another city and apply for Anya's citizenship papers. At this time, our coordinator doesn't know exactly what we need for her citizenship papers - apparently Anya's documents have to be completed in a district that our coordinator is not familiar with. She has received 3 different answers when she asked about what documents will be needed. Please pray that we will have all the documents we need and the citizenship papers will be issued immediately. If not, we will be going back on Tuesday and we could be delayed here in St. Petersburg and not make it to Moscow in time to return home on Saturday. Please pray that everything goes smoothly and we can make our Saturday flight. If we cannot, the earliest we would be able to fly home would be next Tuesday - not only would that be very expensive to change our flights, it would also be a lot more time here in Russia when we are so anxious to be home with Anya! We are tired tonight - didn't have much sleep. So, we'll be resting up for tomorrow. We are very excited to get to see Anya! I didn't think we would see her until Wednesday, so this will be a treat!
