Anya's Weekly Phone Call

We were able to speak with Anya on Monday, but only for a few minutes. It sounded like she was in a room full of people and all the children were trying to talk to us (we heard of lot of "preevyet" - which is "hi" in Russian). Anya seemed to be very happy and excited about us coming - she still said it was too long of a wait, but she was excited. She wanted to know if we could go to the circus when we were there. After a few minutes, she said she needed to go because they were having some kind of class (not sure why they would have a class at 7:30 in the evening???). It has been so good to be able to talk with her each week. It makes Russia not seem too far away!

Also, below is an email update I received from the organization we hosted Anya through. They are doing so much for orphans and God is really working! Please pray for all of these children! And, if you’ve ever considered hosting a child, but didn’t think you could afford to, there are several children on there who have scholarships – you could host a child for very little monetary cost (just be prepared to give your heart away)! If God tugs at your heartstrings when you see the picture of a specific child – just be willing to say “yes” and wherever He leads, you will be an amazing journey. If you have any questions about the hosting program, feel free to call or email me. The deadline for someone to decide to host a child is Saturday, but I know God can move quickly if He wants to!

Please pass this information along to anyone you feel might be interested in helping orphans (people all over the country can host a child). We are so grateful to New Horizons for Children for bringing Anya into our lives and we’re very excited about Anya’s roommate, Anastasia (Nastya), coming this Christmas to stay with my parents (you can see her photo at the above website!).

99 Orphans Un-matched: Only 1 Week Remains!

We are in the final days of hosting signup, literally! But, there is still time. What is most exciting is the scholarships being placed on un-matched children! Please visit the photolisting and consider the following!

1.Host a child. We have children of all ages and stages. Surely one of these children could blend into the fabric of your family this Christmas. It's ok if you aren't their family forever... can you be their family for 4 weeks?

2. Sponsor the program sponsor fee ($250 per child) for a child that touches your heart. We keep hosting fees as low as possible so the most children have the opportunity to come. Program sponsors help us fill in the gaps and actually keep the ministry running from hosting to hosting, including the two mission trips to identify the children you see listed. Our next mission team will return to Latvia/Russia in January.

3. Place a scholarship on a child who you've been watching or maybe even considered hosting yourself. In this last week, scholarships are VERY effective ways to see that a child is hosted! There are families willing to host but not able to cover the entire hosting fee.

4. Spread the word in your church and email distribution lists! Pass this email, it could be the key to one more child hosted!

5. Pray! For host families, program sponsors, for the children coming, for the children left behind, for the ministry and staff.
